Cool game, kind of.

Playoff Positioning Match 2

WSC 4 – 6 Chiefs.

Our timing was a little bit off at the beginning.

Lets see what’ll happen at a playoff rematch.

This however was a playoff positioning match. Playoff positioning matches-say something good about them.

I like playoff positioning matches because they keep the teams on track, getting to see the condition/speed/gears on the motor of the Gegner, basically preparing each team for the playoff arena. You see the highs of the team, and the lows of the team, and afterwards the details can be discussed and practiced. Not important statistically but for establishing position for the playoff schedule.

So yeah, the game.

Chiefs quicked up on the WSC last night.

They scored first. They scored second. Magnus Tryggvason breaks the ice for WSC scoring third, making it 1 – 2 at the end of the first period.

WSC stays in the game hard, battling back, outscoring Chiefs 2 – 1 in the second period, with goals by Mathias Klien and Rene Martinu, bringing us back to 0 – 0 to start the third.

Early in the 3rd period, Klien gets his second, sneaking a beauty past the Chiefs netminder making it 4 – 3 WSC, which holds until the last 10 minutes of the match.

Chiefs upped the intensity a notch in the final 15 minutes and WSC adjusts to hold the fort, but it wasn’t enough, it didn’t work. Chiefs set their ringer out of the cage, scoring two for his hattrick and making it  4 – 5 with a few minutes remaining.

An empty netter with a minute left sealed the deal. 4 – 6 Chiefs.

WSC outshoots Chiefs 32 – 22.

WSC Man of the Match: Magnus Tryggvason.

Next game: WSC vs. Wolves. Sa. 09.02.19. 19.30. Eisstadhalle, Vienna.
